Kurzthese:

To many outsiders Europe has an unimaginably long and colourful history, its inhabitants’ relationships morphing through every complexity known to humankind. Yet more than 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a sizable shadow of mystery still looms where the iron curtain once hung. Belgians and Berliners can know more about bookstores in New York and good coffee in Sydney than where Bratislava or Bucharest even are, nevermind they can be little over three hours drive from their own country.

Beschreibung:

In 2014, twelve Berliners boarded a sleeperbus as it traversed Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania & Greece, in an attempt to reorient themselves with the continent. With a full schedule of workshops, meetings and events with forward-thinkers, provocateurs and activists throughout eight cities, they found not just some of the most exciting, progressive cities in Europe, but also managed to create a network of like-minded people also wanting to take advantage of technology and the new economies to build the foundations for a very different way of life.

Director Mikael Brain will screen a rough cut of a documentary on the trip, due for release late 2015, preceded by a brief conversation with the initiators of the 4531km project Andreas Gebhard and Claudia Brückner.
