Kurzthese:

Virtual Reality will change journalism forever. What de la Peña calls “immersive journalism”, is her representation of a new kind of non-fictional storytelling. The aim is for viewers to be able to witness events and situations more immediately.

Beschreibung:

Nonny de la Peña will talk about using virtual reality to create news and nonfiction. By taking advantage of feelings of presence that comes with wearing virtual reality goggles, experiencing real time graphics and hearing evocative audio, audiences can “enter” a fully immersive recreation of a news, documentary or non-fiction story.  By putting participants on scene as the story unfolds, it allows unprecedented access to the sights and sounds, as well as the feelings and emotions, which accompany witnessing powerful events.  She will also talk about her latest projects including the World Economic Forum commissioned Project Syria which puts the audience on a street in Aleppo when a mortar shell hits; Use of Force, which takes the audience to the Mexico/US border to witness the homicide of a migrant by US border patrol, funded by Tribeca Film Foundation, the Associated Press and Google;  Formula One, funded by Standard Chartered Bank; and Trayvon Martin, a GearVR and Google Cardboard experience.
