Title

Kurzthese:

From birds to squirrels, ducks to cats, animals have been employed—or accused of being so—by governments around the world for espionage. Our talk will provide a brief history of spy animals.

Beschreibung:

In 2011, Saudi Arabian police "arrested" a vulture for spying for Israel. While that may seem unusual, the vulture in question is one of many animals throughout history accused of spying. From the CIA's "Squab Squad" to Ukraine's militarized dolphins, animals have throughout history played an integral part in military and espionage missions. While some animals (such as dogs) make for excellent spies, others (like cats) are less adept. Our talk will take the audience through a history of spy animals.
