Short thesis:

During this workshop, participants will get to experience the process of harvesting and building with e-waste, get a feel of the value chain associated with the reuse of electronic waste with the example of a 3D printer made from e-waste in Kenya.

Description:

Electronic waste is becoming more of a problem each day in the world over. There's a dire need for recycling and upcycling of electronic waste so as to preserve our environment. The E-Waste 3D Printer is one such way of utilizing electronic waste. The printer re-uses several parts all from old scanners, printers and CPUs, together with printed parts and electronic components to build an affordable and functional 3D printer.

Together, we will take apart old printers and scanners to salvage useful parts, and figure out how to re-combine them. During the workshop, participants will get to experience the process of harvesting and building with e-waste, get a feel of the value chain associated with the reuse of electronic waste.
