Lea holds an MA in Marketing Communications and works as a Project Manager for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH at the intersection of international development cooperation, digitization and entrepreneurship. In her work she focuses on the potential of digital change for development and the establishment of standards and frameworks for a “good digital life” worldwide. Prior to this she was a consultant for a women exporters’ association in Ethiopia in the field of ICT for development.

As an associate for the Berlin-based think tank stiftung neue verantwortung she currently develops policy recommendations for Europe’s contribution to an open and free internet targeting international organizations and politics. In this function, she recently published an article on the role of algorithms for the recruitment of terror organizations such as the Islamic State.
