Germany's first Master's Degree in Management of Creative Industries at bbw Hochschule Berlin

The Master degree should enable to operate on a reasonably high level within all the sectors of the creative industry, as junior manager, consultant or as “midwife” of creative companies driven by the creative class, but with relatively little knowledge of management expertise. Therefore, the course should aim at hands-on knowledge rather than theories. The minimal cut set between the sectors should be the guideline of activity concerning methods and knowledge.

Crowdsourcing done right: Basic rules for successful interaction with the crowd

Crowdsourcing is the method of choice for projects which need temporary access to talents, have a low budget or need a big flexibility. But a lot of crowdsourcing projects fail as the projects are simply not following the basic rules of interaction. The key is to understand the management of independent teams.

Non-aggression as a binding promise in Open Source

For a long time, there has been a kind of informal agreement among large players not to sue Open Source communities. However such norms are difficult to enforce, have repeatedly been violated, and both small companies and Open Source communities have been skeptical about it. Recently, holders of patents and copyright have begun to promise non-aggression in a more binding fashion. Is a pledge of non-aggression becoming a requirement to be a community player in good standing?

From Shannon to Snowden: the Human Target in Information Theory from the Beginning until Today

There is a surprising continuity in information theory from Claude Shannon and Norbert Wieners theory to fight airplanes in WWII up to inline game advertising with big data analysis by Hadoop and detecting patterns in mass surveillance data. From this point of view event meta data analysis is only a refinement to statistical analysis, a filter to reduce the amount of data making it easier and handier. The speaker is personally involved multiple times, he did his PhD and Diploma thesis with
